Dear friends,

We at La Donna Musicale and Rumbarroco are both saddened and outraged by the news we see every day. We add our voices to the chorus for positive and tangible change. Even after the news cycle shifts, we must remain committed to social justice. With constant work, we can foster a more equitable society.

For its upcoming season, Rumbarroco is proud to offer a concert that we have been researching for a long time which delves into Africa’s lasting musical legacy. “Black Villancicos and the New World” focuses on this emotionally charged and rhythmically powerful repertoire. We’ll explore the intersection of early European music, with the unspoken African traditions, and current Latin American sounds as well as the fusion of “learned” music with folk and popular forms.

We look forward to sharing details of this event in the future. For now, please enjoy one of our early performances of this overlooked yet delightful music above.

We wish you and your loved ones health, safety, and peace. We trust that today’s suffering can translate into tomorrow’s healing and lasting equality. It must.
